Extra-Telestial

Not really something new, the Daria film was on today. Basically, it was an extended episode, of about 80 minutes. But it was a good flick. The same irony was inserted, but there were plenty of morals in there as well. Pity that Barry Norman(c/o the Radio Times) gave it a 3/5 - a 'not-so-sure' mark. Vague, to say the most.

The Queen Mum's dead

Well, it happened. She's dead. That's it. Now all we need is for The Sex Pistols to release 'God save the queen' and all will be well.

Sonic Adventure 2, for real

On Jackass yesterday(gawd, I should try and make a show like that), some people went snowboarding in San Francisco. In Summer. And strangely, it worked, as they went down stairs and roads wearing ridiculous clothing and wigs. Yes, that is the capital of cool. But what's uncool is not being able to go to all these clubs with 'Over 18s only' - I'm close enough!

ITV Dead-ya-tal

So, ITV Digital is going down. As well as a load of Nationwide Football clubs(for real). Well, I didn't think 38 channels could actually compete with 250(Sky), but, shit happens. In other news, I did my psychology coursework(yeah, probably wrong, but informed), and I believe I will buy that 'Best of Trip Hop' album - probably mainstream stuff, but it has SIX CDs and one of them is Ninjatunes stuff. Perfect for an easy DJ set. How relaxing.

You thought you were better than me, but I, I have the spoon!

Investment that went wrong: sitcoms. After watching Spaced 2, and also realising that Channel 4 has done some other good sitcoms(like Black Books), I just realised the actual quantity of them on the channel - low. Instead of pumping money into getting the next series of Friends(again), the channel could be using the money productively - recently, some person made a series called E=£25, where she represented the sun 'n' stuff using materials like sea shells. Meanwhile, C4 blow £100 million on getting rights to a poor sitcom. Hmm. Comparing there sitcoms to BBC though, and they have winners. 'All about me', which was/is shown on Fridays at 8:30PM, is the worst sitcom ever. Maybe quantity is a bad idea.

24 March 2002

Lazy. Really lazy.

Well, today has been one of the laziest yet, just spending the day watching DVDs that were intended to be watched(like Futurama box set courtsey of older brother, Spaced series 2, WWF Hardcore video + more). I now realised that I am lazy, going for an easy-to-get-into University. I'll probably re-apply for another UCAS thing in September. There.

#'Cause money and time's just what we don't have#

On the subject of wasting time, I did a plenty of that yesterday. Went to town. Played Jet Set Radio Future. For aaaages. I never realised how addicted I'd get to that game - without the soundtrack! But then, 'tis a cool game. So, what next in my relatively empty day(one which should be apparently spent with my younger twin siblings, who celebrated their birthday yesterday)? Well, a trip to some job fair - or rather, a recruitment for jobs at the Prince O' Wales hotel. So, I should hopefully get to be a kitchen porter, which isn't the most demanding of jobs. But I need it. Well, back to JSRF(for ages again), then home, to see part of WrestleMania 18, which has so far been spectacular.

11 Oceans

Well, although most other film-watchers went to see 'Ali G Indahouse' yesterday, Ray 'n' I went to see that RatPack remake film, Ocean's Eleven. Along with about 10 other people(including the Philosophy teacher who gets stoned(apparently), Mr Pervis), we had pretty much a peaceful atmosphere(apart from being able to hear two people arguing in the film projection room during the trailers). Good film! Brad Pitt at his cheeky best, as per usual, and some nice little cameos from 'some people'. One of those 'expert plot' films, which sounds really good. Go see. Pretty funny, too.

Insert nose here

I know I shouldn't, but it can't be helped. Looking at hilarious web sites in college is just wrong - it's very difficult to hold in a muffled laughter, especially when looking at a site like this. I dare you, worker.

Raze-this

I know that political correctness is present, and stupid, but am I missing something? Is Hollywood truly racist(short answer no, long answer yes. Probably)? By remaking old films they are excluding actors from other backgrounds, like that new film of H.G. Wells 'The Time Machine'. Plus, it's also really lazy by having a blatant excuse for a plot. One that's been done before. Just make the films in your local town, for money's sake.

Wrestling saves the day

No, I still haven't seen the latest Wrestlemania, but the latest news on Burnley's football match. They beat Preston, who I think are now managerless, but that's beside the point. A streaker got onto the pitch, and the mascot did a wrestling-stylee shoulder back toss, falling back on him at the end, then doing a victory pose. What a guy. It looked great.

Bertie the Bee: I salute you!

17 March 2002

Nananana, nanana, Naon-Sha

Fromage? Well, today is St. Patricks Day(which seems to be more celebrated than St. George's Day; I'm not complaining) and to, er, celebrate, some Guiness Cake. Well, according to 'some survey' conducted on the Irish Radio station 2FM(my mum always listens to it), about 19% of Eire citizens believe it is about drinking, 16% about beating snakes, 24% about 'Irish Day', and the others believed it was just another holiday excuse. So there you go.

16 March 2002

What?!?

The animation avacado is not impressed. Even though Channel 4 had actually sponsored the event, they fail to show it. All the TV coverage was stuck into a 10 minute slot hosted by 'some guy' and 'a twat'. 'Some guy' tells us that, although he was not really interested in animation, he was amazed by what was presented to him. Emotion, anger, thoughts etc. were what this man didn't expect, and as he has now been subjected to the cool that is animation, he said that 'BBC should have a weekly slot dedicated to these works'. Then, 'a twat'(or one of the presenters) had to say 'Well, Bob the Builder is very popular isn't it?'. No, no and thrice no. It'll take far longer than expected to educate the world about animation in all forms and sizes. It won't happen now...but I'll help!

13 March 2002

Gee, thanks Psychologist people

Well, due to idiocy and inefficiency, after spending seemingly most recent lessons with teacher Rob doing the intro of our coursework, our class(the other one was already told) that coursework is in for 15th of March. Cheers. Now I have to get one of those flippin' A2 books, which will set me back £20. I can't get that money quickly!

Kelthink

For some unknown reason, Metal Gear Solid 2 is being proclaimed as 'The Best Thing Ever'. Pssh. Far from. The game, whilst being given unequalled attention, is relatively similar to Snake's last outing. The storyline is slightly similar(for reasons given it), the attention of the surroundings diminishes as you progress - the reason it is great is because of the Easter Eggs. Fine and dandy, but is it really fun?

11 March 2002

Honestly, it was 'im.

Alright: focus. Focus...damnit! I need more effective ways to start revising. Every time I start...I know I could be playing Um Jammer Lammy! So I usually do. D'oh.

10 March 2002

Ye, ye, yah!

Oh god. I went to bed, but I could sleep last night. Why? Because of Metal Gear Solid 2. The plot, near the very end of the game, confused me too much. I can't explain; it would ruin the story, but what I had seen just sent me into some sort of spiral making me forget about everything else JUST TO MAKE SENSE of the plot! I mean, hats off the Konami of Japan for making the story, but I'm still really confused. Makes the first game look like nothing.

09 March 2002

Ears to the left, ears to the right

Well, I didn't actually think long and hard about it(someone else did), but we're getting a College Radio(applicable to many students for about...2 months. Or less). So, to make me look slightly better, I might end up being a DJ at certain times. What? No money, they say? Oh hell, it didn't matter anyway. If I were to be right up there, I'd probably play these first(bearing in mind people should actually have the songs before thinking about playing them):

1) Dinosaur Jr - Take a run at the Sun
2) Pearl Jam - Breakerfall
3) Unkle - Main Title Theme
4) Nine Inch Nails - The Becoming (Live Version)
5) Terrorvision - Celebrity Hit List
6) Something by The Divine Comedy
7) Something by Fear Factory
8) White Town - Your Woman
9) Daft Punk - Da Funk
10) Beastie Boys - Jimmy James
11) One of those songs of some Kerrang compilation given away with the magazine
12) Nine Inch Nails - Starfuckers Inc.

OK, I might not get away with the last one, but it's a great song. Then I'll quit.

Metal Gear Ray

Metal Gear Solid 2 is a very fine game indeed. It does merely improve on the old game, with loadsa subtle features. Yup, it is barely original(i.e it includes all things that the previous game would've wanted), but it looks nice. I can't really say much. Oh, the fight today was truly poor! The expected winner went out because his piercing holes were closing. So I won £0.60. But I came to watch a good fight! Now I'm really tempted to join!

If you're undead, you gotta be alive!

Oh maaaan. Go into Southport and you'll see certain shops that oust other shops in every way - Our Price is constantly beaten by Musiczone, Gamestation makes customers flow to them and KFC will murder Krunchy Fried Chicken. In other news, Chris has left the Fight Club. Sob sob, etc. I'll get Metal Gear Solid 2 then.

Rer

Great cover. Not made out of cardboard

To brief, this is a great album. It's amazing to see the transition from album to live; in this case, it's quite better. The early tracks are far better, as 'Sin', 'Closer', 'Head like a Hole' and the like are great, with even more complication in the music. The later tracks sound a tad twee, like 'Starfuckers Inc.' - they're good, but not album quality. As the title may suggest, 'Still' is a tranquil album, with most of the songs involving quiet pianos. Very good to chill out to, even if 'The Becoming' is even more frightening than before in quiet mode. Buy!

Considerationism?

I think I might actually join that Fight Club, but I'm only on a 50/50 decision. If I were to enter, I would use my wrestling techniques in fighting - a tad difficult to pull off, but still realistic. I would only have a problem with Chris, as he is bigger than me. I would have to be cunning. Decisions, decisions...

Spaced

I never really realised how popular Mr. Bean was until recently. I've only recently taken a shine to it, which also helps. That film is funnee. I think I might put links on the page again soon.

01 March 2002

Damnit

Them filth at Sega World Weekly keep deleting my posts. You know, the ones that seriously question the new rules. I swear, if they do that again, I'll be 'outtasite'.

The 1st rule about Robot Fight Club is...don't talk about Robot Fight Club

Today, the origin of KGV's own 'Fight Club'. With all the obvious rules applying (no fish hooks, eye gouging, ball kickin' etc), the competitors wear boxing gloves, so there is not complete damage. In some brutal fight between relatively short martial artist Pete and huge heavyweight boxer Chris, Pete managed to win, against all odds. A good arm-lock helped him win the match. This was followed by a less serious fight between Dave and Wyl. Dave lost, but got a point for hilarity.
